Connected Feathers

Using armature, connect primaries and secondaries simulating tensioned cable.

This tensioned cable should take a detour at each feather so that each feather will move in unison.

I will make a notch or something on either side of the Rachis near the root of the feather, a place to attach a cable. I will wrap the cable around the feather in the notch and glue it in place once it has the required tension. Each feather needs to be in the correct position once the cable is tied and glued in place. The tension can then be adjusted in the body of the bird where the cable attaches to the servos.

How am I going to string together the flight feathers, then cover up with coverts? I think I want the string to be under the coverts. So the coverts will be over the string. So to get at the string you would have to move the coverts.

How do I want the string to connect to the feathers? Should I wrap the string, then glue it? I don’t want to have to thread through a small hole. I don’t want to diminish the width of the Rachis. I also don’t want to squish the webbing.

Maybe build a armature before tackling this problem.

I wanted to use a cabling system to connect each feather to its neighbor. Now I think it is better to use rubber bands, as you can individually replace them easier if one flies off or breaks. My previous system was to rigid. The stretchiness of the the rubber bands will make it easier to replace a whole feather if the feather gets damaged.
